Nash QEII Covenant
November 12, 2017
Join us for a trip to a new QEII covenant south of Waihi. The owner has provided the following information about the terrain, and will work out routes suitable for the group when we know who is coming.
“The covenant is made up of 3 or 4 dry ridges which are easy going. These are separated by small streams which have steeper sidelings which can be very difficult going with supplejack etc. There can be vehicle 4wd right to the bush or a 300 metre walk from parking. The vegetation consists of recovering bush with medium size trees (very few older) with regenerating understorey from seedling to head high.”
Meeting place at Landcare carpark at 0800 for carpooling or at Paeroa and or Waihi. We hope to have Robbie Bennett, the QEII representative for the area, and the owner, Colin Nash with us for this trip.
Please note that this trip is now scheduled for SUNDAY 12 November rather than Saturday 11 Nov to avoid a clash with the urban restoration seminar being organised by Bruce Clarkson and Catherine Kirby in Hamilton on 11 November.
Those interested in coming please contact Dell Hood, 07 855 0405, 027 521 9260 or for further details.
